Today has been a long-awaited milestone for WAAMH, our members, advocacy partners, and the people with lived experience and their families who have been impacted by this legislation for the last 26 years, as the Criminal Law (Mental Impairment) Bill 2022 was passed into Parliament.

WAJA & WAAMH Report: Strengthening the Criminal Law (Mentally Impaired Accused) Act 1996 (WA) (‘CLMIA Act’)
The Western Australian Justice Association (‘WAJA’) worked in collaboration with the Western Australia Association for Mental Health (‘WAAMH’) to develop a report to explore ways of improving the operation of the Criminal Law (Mentally Impaired Accused) Act 1996 (WA) (‘CLMIA Act’).

Government's CLMIA Review Report does not fare well against reform priorities
