WAAMH's Submission to the Productivity Commission Inquiry into the 'Social and Economic Benefits of Improving Mental Health'. This submission is based on a range of resources, including academic research; existing WAAMH papers and submissions; existing WAAMH consultation findings; and, feedback and insights from wide consultation with people in the mental health, alcohol and other drug (AOD) and other relevant sectors, including people with lived experience, families and carers.

WAAMH has worked closely with our national peak body Community Mental Health Australia (CMHA) to provide a WA perspective to these national inquiries.

Thank you for your responses to our survey which enabled us to make this submission outlining the importance of Commonwealth mental health funding, the need to improve tender processes and consultation in service design with people with lived experience, the sector and local organisations. We also called for the release of the government’s Review of Mental Health Programmes and Services and a cross-departmental funding strategy for mental health.
