Volunteering
As the peak body for the community mental health sector in WA, WAAMH provides leadership and advocacy, training and development, and mental health promotion.
Please note that WAAMH is a peak body and does not provide direct mental health services to the public. If you are looking to volunteer at a mental health service and provide support directly to people with a lived experience of mental health issues, see our Service Directory for a list of mental health providers in WA, including contact details.
We welcome volunteer enquiries and have limited opportunities in the following areas:
Office administration and projects assistance
This type of volunteering is on a short-term basis and suitable for people looking to gain several hours’ experience working in an office environment. Roles may involve using a computer and associated office software, filing, responding to phone enquiries and moving light office equipment.
Event assistance
Several times a year, WAAMH seeks assistance from volunteers in the execution of large events, such as Mental Health Week and Conferences. Roles may include directing event attendees where to go, distributing event packs, chaperoning speakers, organising furniture, moving boxes. This type of role is suitable for you if are customer-service oriented, confident in dealing with the public, able to work independently and use initiative, are flexible and able to work under pressure.
If either of these roles sounds like you, email info@waamh.org.au to enquire about upcoming volunteering opportunities.
