Regional Education, Access and Learning for Mental Health

A funding program for regional organisations.

Developed with funding from the WA Mental Health Commission, Regional Education, Access and Learning for Mental Health (REALM) is designed to make WAAMH’s suite of training services accessible to regional mental health workers and wider regional communities.

As the peak body for the community mental health sector in WA, WAAMH offers our state’s most diverse and comprehensive range of mental health training services.

In acknowledgment of the financial and other challenges faced by regional organisations and individuals in accessing mental health professional development and training, the REALM program provides a range of targeted funding options.

REALM is available in all areas of Western Australia, outside of greater Perth, within the funding period of the 2015-2016 financial year.

There are three funding streams available:

  • Individual Regional Travel Subsidy Fund
This stream is a travel subsidy available to individuals wishing to visit Perth to participate in one of WAAMH’s scheduled calendar courses.
WAAMH’s calendar of public courses is regularly updated and is available here.

  • Onsite Organisational Training Subsidy
This stream offers organisations the opportunity to have course content customised to meet their needs and is scheduled at a time, date and location to suit the participants.
Information about WAAMH’s suite of courses, including downloadable catalogues, is available here.

  • Public Courses Regional Centres
Working in partnership with a local organisation, WAAMH proposes to schedule two public courses per annum in regional centres, in addition to its Perth-based delivery.
With topics selected to meet local needs, this will allow regional communities local access to high quality training.
Places on each course will be offered at a nominal cost to participants to maximise attendance.
