About this role

  • Fixed term, part-time contract (June 30 2025) with possibility of extension
  • 0.7FTE (26.6 hours per week) working across Monday to Friday

The WAAMH Training Development Officer plays a pivotal role within WAAMH's Training Team and is responsible for the development of training programs delivered primarily to the Community Mental Health Sector and the wider WA community.

This position works under the direction of the Training Manager to support WAAMH's Training and Sector development functions. It is responsible for evaluating, reviewing, customising and developing training courseware and resources for semester and contract training.

Selection Criteria to be addressed

Outline experience and examples where you have demonstrated:

  • Ability to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of training programs, to ensure learning content is responsive to specific learning needs
  • Experience in the design, development and reviewing of high-quality training materials, that are evidence- informed and practice-focused
  • Knowledge, innovation and expertise to leverage modern learning platforms and evolving technology within training development and courseware (e.g. e-learning solutions, alternate delivery methods)
  • Utilised strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability and skill in building connections and engaging with members and stakeholders in the mental health or related sectors

About you

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

Essential:
  • Certificate, Diploma or Bachelors Degree in any of the following: Psychology, Social Work, Community Services, Mental Health or Health
  • Certificate, Diploma or Bachelors Degree in any of the following: Education or Training and Assessment
  • Considerable and demonstrated experience in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of mental health learning and development programs
  • A creative and innovative mindset with the ability to think outside the box
  • Highly effective time management and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure while meeting strict and competing deadlines
  • Capacity to work both independently and constructively as part of a team to meet shared objectives
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, using own initiative
  • Hold a current National Police Certificate
Desirable:
  • Demonstrated experience in a Mental Health or allied Health sector education or training role
  • Experience working in the community mental health, or related sector
  • Lived experience of mental health issues and recovery as a consumer, carer or family member
  • A culturally and/or gender and sexuality diverse background
