The Western Australian Association for Mental Health (WAAMH) has been the peak body for community mental health services in Western Australia for nearly 60 years.

WAAMH believes that everyone deserves the basic human right to the resources and support services necessary for mental wellbeing, recovery and citizenship to be fully realised.

And so, through our work, WAAMH influences community attitudes, mental health priorities, policy and practice through mental health promotion, systemic advocacy and development.

About this role

  • Fixed term, part-time contract (June 30 2025) with possibility of extension
  • 0.8FTE (30.4 hours per week) working across Monday to Friday

The Executive Officer is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of WAAMH's Executive functions to support the Board, CEO and staff to progress WAAMH's Vision, Mission and Strategic Plan

The position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is also a key contact for WAAMH's Board and other external stakeholders on behalf of the CEO. They will also liaise closely with the WAAMH management team.

Selection Criteria to be addressed

Outline experience and examples where you have demonstrated:

  • Proven experience as an Executive Officer or similar role
  • Demonstrated capacity to maintain discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential matters
  • Ability and skill in building connections and engaging with members and stakeholders in the mental health or related sectors
  • Demonstrated initiative in completing tasks to tight deadlines and the flexibility to handle constantly changing priorities and unexpected demands
  • Provide support to the management team ensuring policies, procedures and risk registers are current
  • Experience coordinating bookings including flights and accommodation bookings
  • Advanced computer skills and working knowledge of database management systems as well as the capacity to learn and use in-house database systems
  • Ability to assist with compiling speech notes and coordinating presentations
  • Experience with Board reports, minute taking and following up on action items

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

Essential:
  • 5+ years of proven experience in a similar executive support role, with exceptional organisational skills
  • Highly effective time management and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure while meeting strict and competing deadlines
  • Capacity to work both independently and constructively as part of a team to meet shared objectives
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, using own initiative
  • Have a high level of computer skills, with demonstrated experience with MS Office Suite, email, intranet, data and record management system
  • Well-developed organisational skills, including prioritising, managing competing deadlines and demands in a busy environment
  • Hold a current National Police Certificate
Desirable:
  • Experience working in the community mental health, or related sector
  • Lived experience of mental health issues and recovery as a consumer, carer or family member
  • A culturally and/or gender and sexuality diverse background
