Community mental health workforce urged to be part of historic survey

Monday 27 October

  • WA’s first ever community mental health workforce survey is now live.
  • Not-for-profit organisations that provide mental health services within WA are urged to complete the survey.
  • Survey results will shape future advocacy, helping to build a sustainable mental health workforce and system.

The inaugural survey of WA’s community mental health sector is now live, with all eligible not-for-profit organisations encouraged to get involved.

The historic Workforce Survey Project will capture data and insights that will inform future workforce development, planning and advocacy efforts.

The association’s CEO, Taryn Harvey, said the data collected through the survey would demonstrate the depth, breadth and impact of WA’s community-based mental health sector, and gather tangible evidence of current needs and emerging challenges.

“In my role, I'm fortunate to see and hear the passion, expertise and determination of WA’s community-based mental health staff who work so hard to deliver high quality services, often within challenging contexts,” Ms Harvey said.

“It's time to paint this picture so we can showcase it to those outside our sector - this project is our opportunity to do that.”

Ms Harvey encouraged all not-for-profit organisations providing mental health services within WA to support the project by completing the survey as soon as possible.

“As the first survey of its kind in WA, we’re relying on the support of the sector, to help us collect rich and comprehensive evidence about our workforce which will ultimately benefit all of us.”
