An independent inspection and advocacy body, set up under legislation to ensure involuntary patients (including people on CTOs) and psychiatric hostel residents know their rights, and their rights are observed. Council also takes complaints (which may be from families and guardians), assists people with MHRB and SAT hearings, and inspects facilities to ensure they are safe and suitable. Family & Carer Support

Official Visitors can advise on the rights of involuntary patients (including people on Community Treatment Orders) and psychiatric hostel residents throughout Western Australia. We can also seek to resolve complaints made by family and guardians on behalf of involuntary patients and hostel residents.

Individual Advocacy

Official Visitors provide individual and systemic advocacy and support for involuntary patients (including people on Community Treatment Orders) and psychiatric hostel residents throughout Western Australia. Phone messages are checked on weekends and urgent matters are responded to. Family, carers and guardians can also call Council.
