This award celebrates an overall outstanding contribution to mental health in WA, by recognising an individual who has had a positive impact on people living with mental health challenges in our community, including their families or carers.  Nominations for this award are open to any employee, leader, volunteer, advocate or person with lived experience.

Lived Experience Impact & Inspiration Award 

Sponsored by the WA Mental Health Commission

This award recognises an outstanding contribution to mental health in WA by an individual who identifies as having a lived experience of a mental health challenge or suicide (as a consumer, carer or family member). The successful nominee can demonstrate how they have improved the lives and wellbeing of others in the community and/or raised awareness of mental health challenges in WA. Nominations are open to any individual who identifies as having lived experience of a mental health challenge, or is a family member or carer of someone who identifies in this way.

Mental Health Employee or Volunteer Excellence Award

This award recognises an outstanding contribution to mental health in WA by an employee or volunteer within a private, public or not-for-profit organisation. 
The successful nominee is a mental health champion in their place of work, and can demonstrate how they have supported people with mental health challenges in the workplace.  Nominations for this award are open to any employee or volunteer within any workplace.

Innovation in Service Delivery Award 

Sponsored by Youth Focus 

This award recognises a person, team or organisation operating in the mental health sector, which has developed a new or innovative approach to service delivery. This new approach will have improved the lives of people with lived experience of mental health challenges. The new approach may be a result of feedback from people with lived experience or the result of co-design. The successful nominee will provide clear evidence of the change in the service delivery and the impact on people with lived experience.

Prevention or Promotion Award

Presented by Mercycare

This award recognises an outstanding contribution to the prevention or promotion of mental health in WA for people with moderate, severe or persistent mental health challenges. The successful nominee can demonstrate how they have increased community awareness and understanding, and reduced the stigma, of moderate, severe and persistent mental health challenges. This will include strong engagement with mental health consumers, the sector and/or the wider WA community. Nominations are open to any individual, organisation, group or project.

Diversity & Inclusion Award

This award recognises an individual, organisation or group that embraces diversity and promotes inclusion, through an initiative that benefits a particular population group. This group includes, but is not limited to, culturally and linguistically diverse people, youth or older Western Australians, people of different abilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and LGBTQIA+ people. The successful nominee can demonstrate supports or activities that connect with population groups in a way that is respectful, and which reflects the interests and preferences of that group. Nominations are open to any individual or organisation.

This award recognises an education institution that encourages positive mental health and wellbeing for students, staff or volunteers. The successful nominee can demonstrate that its programs or activities are ongoing and not just a one-off event. Nominations are open to any education institutions within WA, including early childhood learning centres, kindergartens, primary and high schools, universities, TAFE colleges and registered training organisations (RTOs).

This award recognises a WA workplace that encourages positive mental health and wellbeing for staff or volunteers.  The successful nominee can demonstrate that its programs or activities are ongoing and not just a one-off event. Nominations are open to any organisation operating within WA.

News & Media Award

Presented by the Western Australian Association for Mental Health 

This award recognises excellence in journalism and media content related to mental health in WA. The successful nominee can demonstrate that their work has contributed to a wider understanding of mental health or has explored issues of importance.  The work should use recovery-oriented language when referring to sensitive topics around mental health. The nominated work must be written by someone based in WA; produced by a WA media organisation; or published /broadcast to a WA audience. Nominations are open to all forms of print and broadcast media, including podcasts and social media content.
