Youth De-escalation is a practical course focusing on how to respond effectively to threatening, violent, aggressive, or unexpected behaviour in young people.
Suitable for educators, community and people in general working with young people
The course integrates youth specific scenarios and activities ensuring participants are prepared to meet the needs of their young clients as well as their own safety needs.
Providing practical response strategies, this course includes the four step SAFE de-escalation process:

- What is Youth De-escalation?
- Anger in Young People
- Triggers and Trauma
- Signs of Escalation
- STAMP Model (Staring, Tone, Anxiety, Muttering, Pacing)
- The Escalated Brain
- De-escalation—SAFE Model
There are two scholarship places available for consumers or carers who face financial difficulty in attending this course. Scholarship applications close 10 business days prior to course and the successful applicants will be notified five business days prior to commencement of the event.
