This practical and accessible workshop is designed to help mental health workers, and others who may have contact with people experiencing these illnesses. In addition to developing your knowledge of symptoms and treatments, it will equip participants to provide practical support and improved services.
Personality Disorders are a group of conditions which disrupt thinking, behaviour and emotion causing distress and making it difficult to function in everyday life. Types of personality disorder include Antisocial, Avoidant Borderline, Narcissistic, Obsessive-compulsive and Schizotypal.
Content covered includes :
- Symptoms including mood swings, narcissism, mistrust, poor impulse control and relationship difficulties
- Possible causes
- Emotional and behavioural effects
- Associated diagnoses
- Treatments available
- Specialised communication skills
- Community resources and support
There are two scholarship places available for consumers or carers who face financial difficulty in attending this course. Scholarship applications close 10 days prior to course and the successful applicants will be notified five business days prior to commencement of the event.
The cost will be 10% of the course rate.
