The COVID-19 pandemic has meant rapid changes in how we move about in our communities and the ways in which we work. Risks of transmitting and spreading the virus has led to increased physical distancing measures. Keeping connected and supporting one another is the foundation of a healthy community and staying connected matters more now than ever and even though the way we ‘are there’ for people may have changed, we can still ‘be there’ for others. This Interactive Learning Session on the Zoom platform aims to support workers by sharing strategies and approaches so that participants can build their skills and confidence in supporting people to stay well and safe at home during the Covid-19 situation.
The session focuses on how to adapt our engagement approaches to offer relevant and meaningful phone support during this time and will cover three main areas:
- Understanding why phone support is important at this time
- Understanding what is relevant and meaningful phone support and what people are likely to need reassurance about and thirdly
- Understanding how to make a phone call that provides effective support
This interactive workshop will be facilitated by Naomi Michel and will be a 1.5 hour training session. Places are limited to 10 people on a first come basis and every opportunity will be taken to share the places across organisations.
The Zoom platform will be used to facilitate this training and a meeting ID will follow shortly and confirm your registration. Technical support on day will be provided by Kendal O'Brien via [email protected] or calling 6246 3043.
WAAMH would also like to thank the Mental Illness Fellowship of Western Australia (MIFWA), who developed this course material and gave WAAMH permission to deliver it across the mental health sector and beyond.
